Welcome to the sixth
BloodThirsty Vegans newsletter. December 2009 Edition.
The BloodThirsty Vegans (BTVs) is a musical family that makes music (sweet, sweet music)
about
peace, love and understanding to unite the human family, foster respect for
the interconnected web of life, and remind the tribes how liberating it was to
dance the dances of
freedom.
Currently the BloodThirsty Vegans are
My Rap Name is Alex,
Janna "MC Vendetta" Willoughby,
Dave Harter,
Ben Sachs &
Bryan "Brrrn" Lohr
and sometimes
Michael Delaney and
Liz Bailey.
Contacting the
BloodThirsty Vegans directly is pretty simple.
We are all regular visitors to our
facebook page.
We design and operate our own website at
bloodthirstyvegans.com
that comes complete with
message forums where you can
leave messages for the band as well as other BTV friends and fans. And we
also maintain pages on
myspace and
twitter.

This is NOT the Apple
The BTV's made an appearance on Think Twice Radio on November 19th's edition
of This is NOT the Apple. Host, Susan Marie, asked a bunch of really great
questions and shared more than a few laughs. We put together an 8 minute
sampler of some of the best moments: click here for that.
But we would seriously (humorously?) recommend listening to the whole hour: click here for that.

Dance Alive [6pm]
Dance Alive! is a really fun intergenerational dance party that happens on
the first Friday of the month (except January and July) at the UU Church of
Buffalo. If you know any kids that like to sing or dance or just run around
with other kids, bring em to Dance Alive! since we are expanding our
Toddler Army that will Bring About Peace On Earth (TABAPOE). I've heard a
rumor that our friends Quest for Friends may be there and could probably
be talked into performing Chubby Kitty.
Dance Alive takes place at the UU church of Buffalo, 695 Elmwood Ave (14209)
Use the garden side entrance.

We are now booking shows for 2010, please send any
ideas or inquiries to booking at bloodthirstyvegans.com

The
most funnest band in the universe had a whole lot of fun in
November. Starting with...
Dance Alive! - First Friday in November we got our grove on at the
all ages
dance party known as
Dance Alive! The food was amazing, the entertainment was
excellent, the young folks had a ball playing the drums and telling jokes. Fun
times for sure.
the Scorpio Ball - Then on the very next night we took to the (very impressive)
stage (in funny costumes (
My Rap Name is Alex actually wore a
full bunny suit)) for a benefit show for the Coalition for Economic Justice.
What the evening may have lacked in crowd size was more than made up for in
pure dance energy.
FudgyChewy and the
Gilded Masters of Acid House were in fine
form as usual and made much music to move and groove to.
Freedom Bowl
A week and a day later we found ourselves playing a benefit for
VIVE: La Casa at
Canisius College. There were many, many kids there, so
Dave started teaching them all
sign language. Then after we finally wrestled our instruments back from the
children, we did the BTV thing, and there was much boogying, and
Brrrn actually
got an assist on his guitar solo from a pack of pint-sized aspiring musicians.
Battle of the Bands
A week after that we entered a Battle of the Bands thing at
Daemen College to
try to win a little money to put toward recording our CD.
Vendetta was
killin
it on the mic all night even after she had lost her voice because she is just that awesome.
We definitely garnered a lot of votes among the undecided voters and Daemen College
students, but it was not enough to surpass the band that brought a small army
of fans with them. We did win some money, and more importantly, we
made a
lot of awesome new friends. Our good (not new) friend
Leslie was
kind enough to
capture this all on video for us and post it to her facebook page.

Thanks to
Kayla Fritz for getting us the Daemen gig, and
the Daemen crowd for
voting for us!
Thanks to
Susan Marie for being so unabashedly in love with what we're up to.
Thanks to
all new attendees of Dance Alive- it keeps getting more and more fun.
Plus, making an appearance at the Dec. 4th Dance Alive... the Giant Bucket-o
Percussion Fun for all the young percussionists of the world to dance the dances
of freedom with!
