When I was younger I had an aversion to playing music. My friend Charlie and I would see how much time we could waste before we had to get our instruments out during lessons. I didn't dislike playing music intrinsically, I simply disliked it because people told me to do it. I had an issue with anything someone in authority told me to do, simply because they told me to do it.
Later on, after my spirit was broken by four years of public high school, and two years of dismal college, I decided to reinvent myself. I started playing bass because, honestly, I just thought it would be easier than guitar. I was wrong. After playing bass, I was fortunate enough to be given a roommate who changed the way I thought about everything. This was perfect timing. I had primed myself for reinvention, and I was rooming with the best engineer in town. Over the next year, I changed my thought pattern to something I liked, rather than disliked. This experience culminated with the walking trip from Buffalo to Washington D.C.
By this point, I was thoroughly engrossed in my favorite school subject, philosophy. I love argument, and it is my love for dialectical thinking and debate that are leading me on a path to law school. Unfortunately, this will require the BTVs find a new person to play bass. They're the most funnest band in the universe and our time together has been perfect. But here our paths diverge, I go to S. Korea to teach English, followed by a round of law school applications, and they go on to change the world, from Buffalo outwards. I love every single person in the Bloodthirsty Vegans with all my heart and wish them speed in their quest for peace and love.
